Christina Sperrer fährt sensationelle Rennen im Frauen LW1x

Mit 2 Goldmedaillen im W2x (Lobnig/Fahrthofer) und im LM2x (Sieber/Sieber) war dies die erfolgreichste U23 WM für Österreich !

Unsere Christina Sperrer konnte mit einer Serie von hervorragenden Rennen und einem 7. Gesamtrang diesen Erfolg  auch noch etwas  abrunden. Schon mit dem zweiten Vorlaufrang machte Christina auf sich aufmerksam, ihr Sieg im Hoffnungslauf zeigte ihre Topform und im Semifinale verpasste sie um läppische 2 Hundertstel den Finaleinzug. Im anderen Semifinale wäre sie mit ihrer Zeit sicher weitergekommen.......wäre! Im Finale B siegte Christina, die es offensichtlich immer mit knappen Zieleinläufen hält  2/10sec  vor ihrer Konkurrentin aus Kroatien  und belegte somit den 7. Platz.

Das kleine Finale wurde in world rowing folgender Maßen beschrieben :

Christina Sperrer of Austria took off at the start ahead of Chloe Poumailloux of France. Poumailloux then used a higher stroke rate to get ahead of Sperrer. Both of these athletes competed at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta earlier this season, hoping to go to the Olympics in the lightweight double. They continued to battle at the head of the field with neither athlete willing to relent. Poumailloux had to deal with a bit of a steering problem as Sperrer took her stroke rate up to a speedy 36 then 37 stroke rate. Austria had done it. Sperrer finished first with Helena Pavkovic of Croatia putting in an almighty finish to grab second.
